B.C. Distracted Driving Legislation - Banned & Permitted Devices
The following document is provided by the Provincial Government of British Columbia, in partnership with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), and outlines what IS permitted and what IS NOT permitted in the new legislation on distracted driving.
There are also special regulations for those in the Class 7 and 7L Graduated Licensing Program (GLP).
Highlights of this new Legislation include:
Drivers must not hold, operate, communicate or watch the screen of a hand-held electronic communication device
Drivers must not send or receive text messages or electronic e-mail on any type of electronic device
Drivers in the GLP program are restricted from using any electronic device, including hands-free telephones
