Shorter ICBC Class 5 Road Test
By streamlining the Class 5 road test, wait times will be shortened and customer experience improved
Beginning August 3, 2010, the 60-minute Class 5 road tests will be reduced to 45 minutes. This includes road tests for drivers in the Graduated Licensing Program (GLP), for new B.C. residents who are required to pass a class 5 road test and re-tests for drivers who's licence has been expired for at least three years. This change does not include Class 5 re-exams or Class 6 road tests.
The purpose of this change is to reduce road test wait times and improve the customer experience. The change will not impact the integrity of the road test or road safety.
Customers can book 45 minute appointments starting April 26, through ICBC's Driver Examination Appointment System (DEAS) by phone or online. Booking out times for non-DEAS offices will vary by office, based on the normal booking out schedule. Road tests will continue to be 60 minutes in length until August 3, 2010.
